What happens to your email when you subscribe, and what this site counts when you visit.
The short version
- I keep your email only to send what you signed up for.
- EmailOctopus delivers the emails. Nothing is sold or shared.
- Unsubscribe in one click from any email.
- Analytics without cookies. The site sets no cookies at all.
Who is responsible
Igor Fomin, Spain. I run ifomin.com and the newsletter myself.
Questions about your data: contact@ifomin.com.
What I collect when you subscribe
Your email address, which form you used (for example, the one on the home page) and which free download you asked for. Nothing else is asked for.
EmailOctopus also records when you signed up, from which IP address, and when you confirmed. That record is the proof that you agreed to get emails.
Open and click tracking is off. I don't see whether you open an email or which links you click.
Why, and on what basis
To send you the launch checklist and an email when a new video is out, once a week at most.
The legal basis is your consent (GDPR, Art. 6(1)(a)). You give it by confirming your email, and you can take it back at any time by unsubscribing.
Who handles it
Emails are stored and sent by EmailOctopus (Three Hearts Digital Ltd, UK). They keep the data on Amazon Web Services in the EU, mostly in Ireland.
The site runs on Cloudflare. Like any host, Cloudflare sees your IP address and browser details with every request, to deliver the page and block attacks.
If you reply to an email or write to contact@ifomin.com, Cloudflare forwards your message to my Gmail inbox. I answer through Resend (Resend, Inc., USA), which sends from servers in Ireland. The conversation stays in my inbox. Ask and I will delete it.
Your email is never sold, rented or shared with anyone else.
The bot check on forms
When you click into a subscribe form, Cloudflare Turnstile checks that you're a person and not a bot. Usually you don't see it. It sends Cloudflare your IP address and some technical details of your browser, and Cloudflare uses them only to tell people from bots.
The server also counts signups per IP address for one minute, to stop floods. Nothing from that count is kept.
The basis here is my legitimate interest in keeping bots off the list (GDPR, Art. 6(1)(f)).
How long I keep it
Until you unsubscribe. After that, your address is deleted within 30 days.
If you never confirm your signup, the address is deleted within 30 days.
How to unsubscribe
Every email has an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click, no login, no questions.
Or write to contact@ifomin.com and I will remove you by hand.
Analytics
I use Umami to see which pages and videos people read. Umami sets no cookies and collects no personal data: no IP addresses are stored, and nothing follows you to other sites.
What it counts: pages viewed, where visitors came from, country, browser and device type, and signups per form (for example, the form on the home page). All of it is aggregated.
Umami runs on Umami Cloud, the hosted version run by its makers.
Cookies and embedded videos
This site sets no cookies, so there is no cookie banner. The bot check on forms doesn't set cookies either.
Videos on post pages load from youtube-nocookie.com, and only after you press play. Until then nothing comes from YouTube. Once the video starts, YouTube sees your IP address and may store data in your browser under its own privacy policy.
Your rights
You can ask to see the data I have about you, correct it, delete it, limit how it is used, object to its use, or get a copy of it. Write to contact@ifomin.com, I reply within 30 days.
You can also complain to a data protection authority, for example the AEPD in Spain (aepd.es).
Changes
If this page changes, the date at the top changes too. If the change matters, subscribers get an email about it.
